The CRA have, today, delivered a letter to the Mayor. On the advice of our lawyers, we have released it to the press in spanish (for the spanish press) and english. You will be able to read it, if you wish, in the first instance at the public meeting tomorrow, and it will be on the notice board at Kennelly's. It is very long, consequently, we are unable to distribute copies.
Next week, the letter( in English only), together with the press release it was attached to, will be on the "press release" page.
Three members of the Central Liaison Committee of the
CRA went to Murcia yesterday,29
th March for a long awaited meeting with
MASA, which
MASA in fact requested. On arrival however, they were informed by our lawyers,
Garrigues, that
MASA had cancelled the meeting. Apparently, the senior representative of
MASA who should have attended the meeting was in Miami!
Co-incidentally, we learned on Tuesday, that
MASA had informed
Mazarron Council of the impending meeting. Their motives for this decision are not clear. Nobody knows what deals were done between the council and
MASA regarding
Camposol. Given the lack of
willingnes to date, by both parties to discuss
Camposol with the representatives of it's residents, some might well conclude that
MASA are covering their backs because they have concerns about the possible
repurcussions when the truth finally emerges.
Clearly,
Camposol is a "hot
potatoe" politically, due to the impending May elections.
Equally clearly, this has affected our meeting tomorrow. The written report in English will not be available until the middle of next week, at the earliest. The
Garrigues lawyers will be presenting their findings orally in a presentation. The
CRA will have to find a way of enabling questions to be asked at the meeting, and afterwards. This is not ideal, since there will be a lot of questions.
However, what people should realise is that tomorrows meeting is not the end, but the start of a process of evaluation. We need to assimilate and understand the "state of affairs" on
Camposol, then plan our strategy accordingly. It is very important to remember that both
Garrigues and the
CRA are totally committed to negotiation, not confrontation, and that both regard legal action in the courts as a last resort. We say this because a number of people seem to be under a variety of misapprehensions.
On Thursday 29t
h March, the
CRA and
Garrigues are meeting
MASA lawyers. This is very good news, and we hope to be able to resolve some of the more pressing issues which affect us, for example, the lighting. It must be
emphasised that it is
solely due to the involvement of
Garrigues that this has been possible; the
CRA cannot do this without them You cannot do without them.
Please help us to retain their services until
Camposol is the place it should be, by contributing as much as you can to the lawyers fund at
Bankinter on Commercial Centre B.
We will be including the outcomes of this on the 31st March at the Public Meeting.
